Michelau

  • Type: Foot launch
  • Flyable directions: N - E
  • Alt. difference: 220 m
  • Launch altitude: 443 m
  • Landing altitude: 223 m

Michelau is situated in the Sure valley just like Gringlay. However, as the distance to the opposite hill is very short, the flying conditions are completely different.

During the thermally active period, the thermals from the valley or the opposite southern slope often block the supra-regional wind. The calmest flying conditions are therefore until midday and in the evening when the thermals subside.

The landing site is often turbulent. The cross-regional wind does not allow an inflow as the valley is at 90° to it. Constantly changing wind directions must be expected.
